Opinion and comments on general real estate practices and activity in Colorado Springs.

What's in store for 2014 in Colorado Springs.

Do you remember when we were all excited and concerned about the start of a new millennium in 2000? Computers were going to fail, life would come to a standstill, and chaos would ensue! Then the morning of January 1, 2000 dawned and things were as they always were. Even my computer updated itself without blowing up! We humans do have a tendency to be melodramatic, don’t we? Almost a decade and a half later we barely remember what all the hype was about. We are so tuned in to our tablets, phones, and videos, we sometimes forget what’s going on around us. Ok, now I will get off my soapbox and wish you all a peaceful, prosperous, and successful new year.
Exciting news for Colorado Springs is the upcoming presence of a professional soccer team and perhaps even a new venue for their games in the “City of Champions.”
City for Champions builds upon Colorado Springs’ history as a health destination, a training ground for service men and women, and a sports and fitness hub by advancing a collection of new attractions unique in Colorado—and in some cases, the country. These venues will attract new out-of-state visitors, extend visitor trips, and improve quality of life for residents of the Pikes Peak region and the state. Together, the four City for Champions anchor projects combine synergistically in ways that will add dimension, energy, and economy to the Pikes Peak Region.

I, for one, am looking forward to 2014 for both the economy and for the housing market. Economists have predicted better things this year than last so I think we are moving in the right direction. People generally think the market slows down during the holidays and winter season and, although that may be somewhat true, business is still moving along. Real estate is a full time business and always brings something new.
